I have planted sweet pea seeds around the circumference of a fully grown cherry tree. right now they have sprouted and are 5 cms tall. what kind support do I need to give them. I am trying to wind them around twigs which I dig in near them. but this is temporary.
What support do I use to make sweet pea plantlet climb around a tree, they are 5 cms tall %26amp; have no support?
I would purchase this trellis netting product and loosely staple it to the tree. The staples won't harm the tree since they will only go through the outer bark. I've used it along a fence before for my sweet peas and it worked out great.

Reply:You could also use garden twine with nails. use scrap wood to make a stake, put a small nail into the top of the stake to tie the twine. Tie the end of the twine to the nail and hammer the stake into the ground next to the plant. run the length of twine up the trunk and tie off to another nail. Report It
Reply:sweet peas are relativly easy they have little arms that wrap around just about anything.cheapest and easyest way, string a lightwight twin, dental floss in green, yarn or whatever you have around the house. trust me they will climb. twin is easy to remove after summer Report It
