Im looking for a highly scented plant to grow?

i live near a waste factory and occasionaly in the summer you get an odd smell of sh*t on the breeze. i would like to plant something in my garden which will mask the smell, i need something annual, cheap to buy, easy to grow and very highly scented. it dosnt matter if its a small plant, tall plant or a climber, as long as its an annual and has a very powerful, pleasant smell. i have heard that grandiflora sweet peas might be ok, does anyone agree with that or have any other suggestions.

Im looking for a highly scented plant to grow?
Honeysuckle is a fast grower and smells lovely. It's a climbing plant though. Also night scented stock does exactly what it says on the tin. At night it gives a beautiful scent.
Reply:My immediate thought was honeysuckle, but these obviously aren't annuals. Why not plant some pots with bulbs of scented lilies and freesias?

Other higly scented annuals are Perfume Delight Sweet Peas, Heliotrope, Nicotiana Alata %26amp; Moonflower Vine. You should be able to get these from seed merchants.
Reply:since you say it only happens in summer try the honeysuckle. There are many varieties ask at your garden centre for the most fragrant.

There is not reason you could not do the pathway too- I like lemon thyme
Reply:Dianthus firewitch,Dianthus Bath's pink, this plant grows low to the ground, Stargazer Lilly has big blooms with a big scent, my pick for your situation, any Rosemary plant, Brugmansia[Angel Trumpet] gives off it's scent at night, Stargazer for day and Angel Trumpet for night, these two plants will last all summer and may come back next year depending if your area doesn't stay in a deep freeze the whole winter. Good Luck, I know how you feel, I pass a protein plant going to work and back, I carry a can of room spray in my truck.
Reply:Stocks are highly scented, the smell is divine. Some scented roses as well. Lavender bushes. But my favourite is stocks and wallflowers they also last and last. I have wallflowers that has been in my garden for over three years now , still flowering and still smells lovely.:))
Reply:Plant 10 week stocks for their scent during the day and night scented stocks for the evening and night, there perfumes are Divine. Plant near your windows or in a window box to get the full benefit
Reply:You could try a climber like honeysuckle, although only proudces scent when flowering. Best bet is to make a pathway and use a creeping herb like time that doesnt mind being walked on, this will release a nice scent and help.
Reply:Dont now
