What flowers can be grown in Sedona Arizona?

If I lived there, would I be able to grow common flowers such as Sweet Peas that grow from seed? I am wondering about the soil compatibility, climate, watering needs.

There are a lot of things that you can grow. Here is a link to a nursery that specializes in plants for your climate: http://www.highcountrygardens.com/

Check it out and you can get an idea of what you can grow.

-Also, find a good retail nursery in your area as they will be very helpful in suggesting plants for your environment.

-Join a local garden club too, the members will have tons of practical information.

-The "Sunset Western Garden Book" is a good start also. It's a good reference book and has good gardening advice.

Hope this helps! :)
Reply:In the arid regions of the west the soil has never had the vegetation to create any humus in the soil - so it has little nutrition for plants. The climate is hot and dry so plants with "furry" or waxy leaves do better. Check out the "Western Garden book". You can grow just about anything if you work hard enough at it - constant water, soil prep and such.
